Oakwood University - BS, Math Education

I have always enjoyed math, ever since I got started with it in the second grade. I believe that I am gifted in the subject. For that reason, I cherish the opportunity to teach the material to others. I have taught and tutored mathematics for a number of years and am very good at making complicated concepts relatable. The key is to break the material down to a basic level and then use that as a base for further learning. My enjoyment of math continued to my time at Oakwood University and is still with me to this day. Since there are often multiple ways to solve a particular math problem, I utilize several of them to see what works best for a student. Once I know what works for the student, I use that method throughout our sessions together. I am a very friendly person and try to make connections with the people that I am tutoring, as this makes the entire process easier. I currently tutor in math-related subjects like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus. I also prepare students for the ACT in English, science, and reading. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy spending time outdoors, running, gardening, and participating in sports. I also enjoy reading.
