Hi! My name is Justin and I recently completed my PhD in Chemistry at UC Berkeley. I used to tutor in Chemistry (Organic, General Chem, Middle School-High School Chem) and math (Algebra-Pre-Calculus) in college in Connecticut. I have never stopped teaching, though, as I was a graduate student instructor in organic chemistry throughout my PhD. Starting in February I will be working for a non-profit. There I will be advancing sustainability causes and environmental responsibility by supporting their environmental, health and safety certification program. In my spare time I want to continue to spread the knowledge I have gained in my PhD and through my experiences with industry and other non-profits advancing the sustainability of chemicals and materials. I should also note that I took part in a program called BASIS - Bay Area Scientists in Schools. This was a volunteer program where I and a team of other graduate scientists put on science demonstrations for 3rd graders to learn about the states of matter. I am as happy to teach for the little ones as I am for teenagers. Hobbies
Besides pouring over textbooks, working with chemicals, and doing scientific literature research and analysis, I also have a strong musical interest. I have sung in many groups in college and post-college and participated in a dozen musicals. In addition, I am very focused on fitness. I did crew in high school and since then have been lifting weights and participating in grueling physical challenges.
