Harrison Sheppard, a lawyer, author, and public speaker, received a classical education and B.A. from St John's College, Annapolis, MD (1961) and a Juris Doctor from Hastings College of Law, University of California, San Francisco (1967), with post-graduate studies at Georgetown University Law School in Washington, D.C. (1968-69) and Harvard University in public policy (1979). He is the Principal of Harrison Sheppard Law & Conflict Resolution, a San Francisco solo law practice founded in 1990. In addition to talks given to audiences throughout the U.S. and internationally, his legal and political essays have appeared in scholarly journals and mass media including, among many others, The Washington Post and The New York Review of Books. He is the author of Too Much For Our Own Good: The Consumeritis Epidemic (2006) (which predicted the mortgage and credit crises); What’s Right with Lawyers/What’s Wrong with Lawyers (2003); and A Visitation by Charles Dickens (2012), a contentious novella celebration by 15 Dickens characters of Dickens’ 200th birthday. Sheppard’s published writings include numerous articles (and a DVD) on the influence of ancient Greek culture on contemporary American and world civilization. He has taught academic courses in plane geometry, poetry, and legal topics at the (private) high school, undergraduate college, law school, and post-graduate level. He has edited doctoral dissertations for Ph.D candidates. Sheppard offers tutoring services for writing, poetry, literature (American, English, and World), History (American and World), philosophy, and plane geometry at $125 an hour at his office or up to 15 minutes away at no additional charge. He is also available for editing services at a negotiated fee.
