City College of San Francisco - Current Undergrad, Civil Engineering
I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in civil engineering, and I absolutely love both math and science. I began tutoring as a volunteer for local programs, including the Boys & Girls Club, the Tiny Tots Preschool, and at the City College of San Francisco. I find it a rewarding way to give back to my community. I love helping children learn and reach their academic potential because I know just how important that is to the ultimate success one experiences in life. I primarily tutor math and science courses, including algebra 1 & 2, calculus 1-3, chemistry, elementary math, middle school math, pre-calculus, intermediate algebra, public speaking, algebra 3/4, statistics, applied mathematics, and finite mathematics. Part of my success with students has come from the effort I put into getting to know each of them and from making my lessons fun and engaging. In my experience, students who are bored or miserable don't learn nearly as well as those who are able to laugh occasionally. I recognize that lessons can't always be filled with laughter, but having fun is part of my teaching strategy. I enjoy making the learning process fun for my students and have found it to be a very effective way to break through their learning barriers.
