Experience

I am enthusiastic about working with students, and I particularly love to share my enthusiasm for reading and writing with others. I aid students in crafting their College Application essays, papers for class, and creative writing assignments. I also tutor the SAT and the ACT in both the Critical Reading and Writing sections. Students who struggle with structure and organization within their essays can look to me for constructive help. I make it a point to teach my students how to elegantly introduce and conclude a paper, easily flow from topic to topic, and cleverly but sensibly create transitions between paragraphs and main ideas. I am a great help for any students struggling in a Literature or Language Arts class. I love helping students to understand great works, and my hope is to inspire them into a thirst for further research, exploration, and knowledge. I can also provide help with any speech-giving or public speaking a student might be struggling with. I am a trained actor with lots of on-stage experience. My goal is for my students to approach public speaking with confidence and ease. I am happy to help students not only craft their own speeches on the page, but also deliver these speeches eloquently and confidently before any audience. I have experience in proofreading, editing, and crafting the college application essays of many younger university-hopefuls who I know through my own high school and home school district in Orange County, CA. I have coached several students in Orange County through their college application essay-writing process. My tutoring sessions are personal and engaging; I enjoy truly getting to know my students, and counseling them through this stressful but rewarding experience. Furthermore, during my time at Stanford University, I tutored many students (from 3rd grade to 12th grade) on subjects ranging from essay composition, grammar, and test preparation. I tailor my curriculum to the students' needs. This past summer, I was hired as an instructor at an Orange County chapter of Elite, a private test-prep company. I taught an intensive SAT Critical Reading course, and an ACT course. I continue to work at Elite as an instructor for weekend classes. Overall, I'd say that I am bright, positive, and encouraging. I am fantastic with children, I am passionate about academic pursuit, and I love working with others. Having recently graduated from a top-notch university, I can connect to students who are younger than I while still providing high quality instruction.
