Experience
I graduated from San Francisco State University in 2011 as a Master of Arts in English with a creative writing focus, and my thesis which was the novel, Charlie Six, was published by Poppynoir.com . Charlie Six, written under my nom de guerre, Brixton Key, garnered excellent reviews and was featured on NPR. I have worked as a features writer for the British music weekly, The Melody Maker, in publicity and promotion, and as the personal manager for the singer/songwriter/ actor, Chris Isaak. My command of the English language, especially in the written form has served me well throughout my career. Consequently I have always thoroughly enjoyed coaching people, especially students to enhance their writing skills. When I worked in the English tutoring center at SFSU students told me in the most elegant way that they were hopeless at writing, yet by helping to install thorough reading skills I found all the students I worked with patiently and uncritically were indeed more than capable of writing themselves into the university. Writing is a set of skills every student is capable of, and I can help you become a capable and practiced college standard writer. My website is www.WhereIsCharlieSix.com.

Hobbies
In my free time I enjoy walking in San Francisco with no particular destination in mind, just placing one foot in front of the other and in the process discovering delightful small shops, wonderful old and new buildings. I find walking frees my mind and in doing so I begin to solve all sorts of problems, especially scenes and dialogue for the present novel I am working on. I enjoy cooking for my wife and myself and take great delight in farmers markets and grocery stores in Chinatown. However, my biggest pleasure is reading literature, about history and biographies. I can quite entertain myself reading a sauce bottle or an instructional manual about a piece of machinery I had no clue existed before a random find by Googling abacus. Life is full of wonderful surprises.
