Private tutor in San Francisco, CA
Stanford University - BS, Biology
I received my bachelor's degree in biology from Stanford University. As a college student, I had the opportunity to work with the DreamCatchers, providing after-school tutoring for at-risk students. I tutored middle school students individually throughout the school year to provide academic support and improve their confidence. I have also tutored high school students in math courses and in preparing for the SAT. I tutor a variety of courses, including elementary math, middle school math, algebra, calculus, statistics, trigonometry, multivariable calculus, and biology. I also help students prepare for standardized exams such as the SAT, ACT, and CASHEE.As a tutor, I believe my role is quite different from that of a student's parents or teachers. I am able to build a unique relationship with my students that is free from demands or judgements, where students feel able to make mistakes and ask questions more freely. To lay the foundation of this relationship, I spend time listening to my student to discover where their interests lie, what they are struggling with, and how they learn. I am then able to personalize their tutoring in a way that will facilitate greater academic success.During my free time, I enjoy traveling, creating new recipes, and biking.
