Hello, my name is Alonso. I am a native Spanish speaker, and was born in Peru. I have an MA in philosophy which I attained at San Francisco State University. As a native Spanish speaker and a philosopher, I am trained to both teach Spanish and explain the intricacies of the language, aid at Spanish essay writing or conversational Spanish. My tutoring abilities also extend to English, where I have written, edited, and graded many papers by students and colleagues during my time at San Francisco State University. Over the last 2.5 years I have taught various philosophy classes to undergraduates at SFSU, in addition to assisting in many upper division classes. These include Critical Thinking, Introduction to philosophy, Philosophy of Mind, Introduction to Philosophy of Art, Philosophy of Law, etc. Before that, I worked at both high schools and middle schools in Orange County. Overall, I have been tutoring and working in educational environments for over 5 years and it is truly one of my passions. For future graduate students: I have scored in 160 range in the Verbal Section of the GRE, I can provide assistance in this section if needed. For non-native English speakers: I have also taken the TOEFL where I scored 120 (the highest grade possible), so I can tutor you on the Listening, Speaking, and Writing aspects of that test.
