Education

I recently completed my undergraduate coursework towards the Physics B.S. at UC Santa Cruz. I am currently working on research in atmospheric physics to complete a thesis project. I was a transfer student from City College of San Francisco, and awarded a generous scholarship from the National Science Foundation to continue my work at UCSC.

Experience

I have tutored all levels from kindergarten to college. My coursework and tutoring in college physics makes me an excellent physics resource, especially at the high school and introductory college level. Relevant courses include: Mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves and optics, modern physics and quantum mechanics. I have also tutored high school and middle school math and physics. I have a solid math background from addition to multivariable calculus. My work with elementary age students was primarily in reading, but some math as well. I am comfortable working with all ages and backgrounds. My work has been both in-home and on site at schools. I enjoy tutoring because it is a shared learning experience. I don't think of myself as someone who knows more than a student, I think of myself as having more experience asking questions. My goal is to ask the same question as the student, and guide the student through the steps I would take to find an answer, giving the student something far more important than an answer: The tools and confidence to stand up to any question they will encounter in the future. Building problem solving autonomy is my mission.

Hobbies

I love to learn. I spend my time watching online courses or using Khan Academy. I really enjoy learning from people as well, people who are passionate about anything and want to share their passion with me. I am always interested. During my last year in college I took a course outside of my major that required me to learn how to build an autonomous robot from the ground up, and eventually build one to compete in a public tournament, all in ten weeks! Now I enjoy tinkering with microcontrollers (specifically Arduino) and learning how to use them. I would love to share this interdisciplinary hobby of computer science, electrical engineering and physics with anyone who will get a kick out of it. This could potentially be a really long section so I'll sum it up with: Food, animals, sports, nature, music, working on cars, math.
