Experience
I'm a reporter at a tech publication, with a master's degree in journalism from Columbia. I alternate between a standard news format and more personal op-ed pieces, writing at least two posts a day. I can teach you how to tell a compelling story, whether that's for a college admissions essay or a scholarship application. I might be able to help you with your English coursework as well, although my area of expertise is narrative writing, not grammar or punctuation. Before covering tech, I worked as a teaching fellow at Columbia (after graduate school). I taught journalism grad students and professors how to incorporate digital storytelling -- video, websites, photography -- into their print work. I'm a patient instructor and teaching brings me a lot of joy. In the future, once I've had my fill of journalism, I hope to teach full-time. It's been a long time since my SATs, but I believe I received a 780/800 on the English section of the SATII. If you need me to double-check I can pull some old files and see if I can find it.

Hobbies
I live in a small studio in SOMA, so the whole city is at my fingertips. I spend weekends trying new brunch places with friends, running to my favorite pier spot beside the ferry building, and dancing wherever there's good music. I have a chubby rescue cat named Merv who acts more like a dog than a cat. I love the Bay Area and never want to leave. I'm tutoring some students so I have extra money to help pay my graduate school loans off.
