John D.
Private tutor in San Francisco, CA
Education
I graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from U.C.S.D., with minors in History and Psychology. My major G.P.A. was 3.7.
Experience
I have worked professionally as a writer and editor since 1995. During that time (and before), I have helped countless people write academic essays, job application documents (cover letters, resumes, supplemental questions/essays), query letters, etc., both for pay and on a pro bono basis. On a volunteer basis, I have been teaching drums and percussion to children ages 5-14 for the past twelve years, both individually and in group settings. My specialty is teaching the principles of effective writing, and how to best organize and present information—which always includes and encourages clear thinking. My excellent analytical and communication skills, combined with patience and good humor, translate into an enjoyable and enriching experience for learners. I love contributing my skills to help others succeed! I have completed coursework in U.C. Berkeley Extension's Professional Sequence in Editing. I have ample local references and can provide letters of recommendation.
