Stanford University - BS, Management Science & Engineering
I received my undergraduate degree from Stanford in Management Science and Engineering (sometimes referred to as Industrial Engineering). This coursework was centered around Statistics, Entrepreneurship, Systems Optimization, and Computer Sciences, though I have a large interest in Liberal Arts. While in undergrad, I acted as a tutor in writing and an R.A. for a first-year dorm. As an R.A., I acted as a mentor to new students, and I helped them to adjust to the college experience. I also tutored extensively in the areas of Rhetorical Analysis and Writing. I enjoy teaching Finances, Computer Science, and Engineering, though my expertise is much wider in range than just those subjects. I've tutored introductory and advanced Mathematics, English Writing, Composition, Mechanics, Macroeconomics, and more. I also have experience helping students prepare for the ACT, PSAT, and various GMAT tests. I find it important to be patient, persistent, and flexible with my teaching style in order to meet the specific needs of students. One of my strengths as a teacher is focusing on empathy and relating in order to understand each student's learning style. It's very rewarding when students understand complicated argumentative ideas and then integrate those concepts into their own work. In my life outside of teaching, I'm a volunteer photographer for national parks, and I work at a Silicon Valley start-up.
