Experience
I have always seen reading and writing as extremely useful skills. Additionally, it is fun to be able to understand the ideas of others and express one's own ideas. I am grateful to the teachers who taught me the importance of good communication. In today's information dense society, it is becoming increasingly important for employees to be able to critically and quickly analyze text and write based on that analyses. My goal is to prepare my students for their future. The demand for good readers and writers makes my job (the professor at a community college) very important. The classes that I teach are on topics such as reading, writing, and critical thinking. Before becoming an instructor, I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees. Both of these degrees are in literature. Additionally, all of the classes for my doctorate in composition are complete. When I am not teaching at the community college, I spend my time tutoring students of all ages and walks of life, including employees in business settings. I truly believe that writing and reading can be fun for students. A student's level of enjoyment depends on the teacher and how they relate to the material. In order to keep my students engaged, I try to keep the classroom atmosphere fun with my sense of humor.
