Experience

I believe we all have an innate yearning to learn. My goal as a tutor is to help my students find their learning method. I like to help them not just raise their test scores and improve their grades, but more so, help them look deep within themselves and realize the learning style that works for them. When I am not teaching or tutoring, I like to read, cook food from my garden, and find new music. I also enjoy listening to spoken word poetry. My personal interests in reading and writing, and natural gifts as an educator, led me to Belmont University, where I earned my master's degree in teaching. As a professional teacher, I have over four years of experience. I have been a full-time educator for junior high science, writing, and reading. I have taught students of all ages in individual and classroom settings. My dad is an elementary school teacher, and my tutoring career began there. My teaching skills improved, and my experience working with children grew, as I helped his students prepare for their state tests. Over the years, I have supported hundreds of students prepping for standardized exams. I also tutor in math, reading, and writing.
