Experience

I have spent the last three years teaching and tutoring, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am passionate about math and science, and I am equally invested in helping my students gain a solid understanding of these subjects. I am great with students of all ages, including elementary through post-graduate students. After working with a variety of personalities, I have learned to cater my lessons to the individual student's needs. I understand that each student is unique and will be faced with different challenges, which can be overcome by developing a personalized studying skill-set. Throughout my career I have become proficient in higher level subjects, including mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, English, and literature, as well as standardized tests. I have experience as both an independent tutor and as an employee of larger companies. I have worked with students one-on-one as well as in the classroom. Through my work in research and leadership I have collaborated with many people and understand how to reach students to give them the support they need outside of their classrooms. My work in the food service industry, as a tour guide, and as the vice president of my undergraduate student body has developed my communication skills. These skills have been beneficial to myself and my students in my positions as a private tutor and teacher. I have expressed my desire to continue to develop my love for communication and writing through obtaining degrees in both English and bioengineering. I hope to use this interest to better myself as a teacher because I understand the keystone to teaching is communication and the ability to clearly express one's ideas. I have practiced these proficiencies through research and leadership positions in both my undergraduate and graduate careers, where I learned to be adaptable and creative. My undergraduate school's honor code has also been a positive influence in my everyday life, and I hope to emphasize to students the satisfaction and drive one can obtain by working hard to master difficult material. I take joy in learning and would appreciate the opportunity to spread my excitement to students. Test Scores: SAT: 2190 ACT: 35 GRE 1490 SAT Subject: Molecular Biology, 780; Literature, 740; Math Level IIC, 770 AP: Biology, 5; AB Calculus 5; BC Calculus, 5; English Language, 5; English Literature, 5
