Experience

I have five years of experience in private tutoring in both the South Bay and the Princeton, NJ area. I've tutored students ranging in age from 6th grade through 12th grade in math ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, as well as AMC10/12, Math Counts, calculus-based statistics, and more. I've also helped students prepare for the SAT general (reading, writing, and quantitative sections) and subject test as well as other more specialized standardized tests such as private high school entrance exams. I've also worked with students on computer programming, physics, and chemistry. I've helped students self-study math courses over the summer in order to (successfully!) place out of a course at their school. My students have successfully skipped geometry, AB calculus, and algebra 2. At Stanford, I am a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate mathematics classes. I have been the course assistant for Math 19, which is Stanford's calculus course, covering material similar to the AB Calculus curriculum. It is a course of about 150 students. I ran exam review sessions, hold office hours, and grade exams. Next quarter, I will lead my own section of differential equations. I have also been the course assistant for applied linear algebra and graduate algebra. I spent the summer of 2016 working as a counselor at the PROMYS program for advanced high school math students. I graded homework and exams and helped students approach their challenging homework assignments and learn to discover mathematical truths on their own. It was very exciting and rewarding to work so closely with some very bright students, and I've had the opportunity to guide and mentor them through learning some very advanced math subjects as well as help them through the college admission process. In addition, I was an undergraduate Course Assistant for each of the last four semesters I spent at Princeton. My responsibilities included grading homework and running review sessions for help with homework and preparation for exams. The courses I was involved with were advanced undergraduate courses for students majoring in mathematics and the natural sciences, such as complex analysis, abstract algebra, and differential geometry.
