Private tutor in San Francisco, CA
University of California-Riverside - Bachelors, Chicano Studies, Spanish, Education
I attended UC - Riverside to earn my bachelor's degree in Spanish and Chicano studies, along with an education minor. I've been tutoring since I was a high school student, assisting peers with coursework. I also spent summers tutoring and serving as a teaching assistant at an elementary school in San Francisco. In this role, I helped out in reading and math for students between kindergarten and fifth grade. I'm currently tutoring second through fourth-graders in elementary school in English language arts and math subjects. I am looking forward to becoming a teacher in the future, and I really enjoy working with kids When I work with students, I like to find out what students are interested in so I can relate topics that we study to those interests. I believe that this help students stay engaged and motivated to learn. When students are having fun, they're much more likely to succeed. I use a lot of visuals, color, flashcards, and other resources to keep students active and focused. I can assist students in algebra, Spanish, geometry, English, middle school math, reading, study skills and organization, test preparation, and others. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, playing soccer, watching basketball, watching movies, taking walks, and running.
