Private tutor in San Francisco, CA

Education

I was raised and educated in San Francisco. I attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory for high school and graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in English literature. I received my Teaching Credential for secondary education in English in 2005. I am bilingual in English and Cantonese.

Experience

I specialize in several different areas: Elementary-aged children in multiple subjects who have focus and attention issues and learning differences, such as AD/HD and dyslexia. If your child is struggling in a traditional classroom, my creative methods will help! Middle school-aged students who wish to hone their reading and writing skills. In addition, I tutor students in the HSTP high school placement test for private schools. High-school and college students who are ELLs. Group lessons and group rates are available, especially for students from SFSU and CCSF. I have been an educator for over 15 years and a professional tutor for the past five years in San Francisco. My previous experience includes teaching for five years at Galileo High School in English literature and ESL and co-creating the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism. Before teaching, I also co-created an ethnic studies summer program for the Chinese Historical Society Museum of America and tutored struggling, inner-city students for a college-bound program. My current, professional focus is working with children who have suspected learning differences, such as AD/HD and dyslexia related issues. The biggest hallmark for these is when a bright and intelligent student struggles in the traditional classroom. My creative methods bridge the learning gap to help your child succeed in school and beyond. I am available to meet with students at my private office in San Francisco.
