Experience

My passion for teaching has grown through various experiences that have provided me with innovative ways to inspire others to activate their creative minds. I have been working with children for the past six years, as a creative writing instructor, camp counselor, outdoor and environmental educator, and after school program supervisor. Currently, I am a teaching assistant for a undergraduate level 2 writing class at California College of the Arts, and I also teach creative writing to children in grades 3-5 at Argonne Elementary and Clarendon Alternative Elementary through the “Take My Word For It!” after-school enrichment program. I want to be a tutor because I love showing others what their brains are capable of, and I love unleashing creativity in others and cultivating that creativity. I also love to help; it is simply in my nature to want to bring out the best in people, especially academically. If I remember correctly, My SAT scores from 2007 were: 720 (Writing), 640 (Verbal), 630 (Math).

Hobbies

I love reading and writing poetry, screenplays, science fiction, fantasy, and all kinds of non-fiction. I'm currently working on a screenplay and a poetry chapbook. I maintain a travel blog and a food blog, and am currently working on a seasonal vegetarian cookbook. I spend much of my free time cooking and creating recipes. I love to travel and have lived abroad in Chile, New Zealand, Bolivia, and Spain. I'm very passionate about the outdoors, and spend the majority of my free time walking my dog Daisy through the numerous parks, forests, and trails of the Bay Area.
