Private tutor in San Francisco, CA
Education
Currently in a Masters in Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies. BA in Psychology from San Francisco State University. GPA 3.6. Associate of Arts in Arts and Humanities from City College of San Francisco.
Experience
I was a teaching assistant for the Dr. Erik Peper at SFSU in the Holistic Health Department for 3 years 2009 to 2011. I believe the most important part of the educational process is the relationship a student has with their teacher. Studies have shown that the acts and words of encouragement, and positive expectations alone has improved the performance. This is the bases for my teaching strategy. If a subject seems boring, difficult or intimidating I have the ability to re-frame the subject so that the information can be related on a different level. I have informally tutored people in my own college classes, helping them study for tests, and reviewing papers and giving constructive feedback.

Hobbies
My approach to teaching is not to teach, but to help others learn. I do this by being present and maintaining a relaxed confident attitude, that the goal can be reached. I always frame everything in a positive light. I know well that making mistakes is a part of learning, and therefore I would be able to pass on that perspective on. I have developed a philosophy that education is of the up most importance but without giving myself to much pressure to get good grades. Do not get me wrong, while we should be concerned about doing well, it is important not to become stressed by our endeavors to do well. I understand that everyone learns differently and that the person teaching is just as important as the subject being learned for a student to really succeed. The relationship between the student and the teach is almost more important that how much the teacher knows about the subject.
