ExperienceI tutor because I believe that many instructors are simply unable to spend quality time with every student. Especially with higher level science classes such as organic chemistry, the disparity between learning via making connections and understanding concepts versus rote memorization becomes increasingly severe in terms of efficiency.
Although chemistry and biology tend to be my main subjects, I have helped students with a broad range of high school subjects, ranging from physics and math to english and essay help. I have also met with university students to help with courses in c++.
Have tutored for 3+ years
SAT Subjects: Math (level 2), Chemistry, Biology (M) all 800's
GPA: 3.9 (Both high school and college)
AP tests: 5 on Chemistry, Biology, Calc BC, English Language, US Gov + Politics, Physics: Mechanics, Psychology
Relevant college courses:
3 semesters of organic chemistry (up to graduate level)
3 semesters of biochemistry
1 semester of neurobiology
1 semester of analytical chemistry
2 semesters of physical chemistry
1 semester of genetics
3 semesters involving c++
2 semesters of discrete math/algorithms
I currently work as a researcher in a lab involving both bio- and analytical chemistry
HobbiesI played saxophone in high school and continued into college, and I played water polo and swam as well before I graduated high school.

John is a great tutor who will go out of his way to help his students understand the material better.
Great tutor. John helped me with organic chemistry and instead of just telling me which reagents did what and why etc etc he actually taught me how to see chemistry like he sees it, and as a result I could interpret any new situation I encountered. One hour with this tutor was worth multiple sessions with past tutors, I highly recommend him.
