I have worked with learners of diverse ethnic backgrounds in the US and the United Arab Emirates including Argentinian, Nepalese, Indonesian, Ethiopian, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Emirati, Palestinian and Lebanese learners to help them improve their written and spoken English. I appreciate the nuances of cross-cultural communication and various 'localized' English expressions which sometimes come across as "wrong" but aren't technically incorrect. I navigate conversations and learning moments with my learners with care and respect. I am highly sensitive and attentive to the learning needs of absolute beginner learners and more advanced learners. Through stimulating one-to-one needs-based lessons, I help learners find their voice and a desire to continually develop their communication skills. Raised internationally, I have a profound appreciation for culture and languages. Right now I'm learning Korean and working on my Arabic. I enjoy connecting with people, finding common ground and learning new things. I am passionate about diabetes health and animal welfare, and I love to practice yoga and take long city walks. I've been teaching English since my college years and it has been a rewarding experience. I learn just as much, if not more, from my learners as they do from me.
